Born in the heart of the district. Our journey starts within the historic Emperor's Fortress in Prato, based in city rich in textile know-how, from which we inherit our name and historical origins. Our founders had a clear and ambitious idea: combining regenerated fabrics with a constant pursuit of innovative products and processes in the fashion world.
At today's Fortex, we are convinced that innovating and protecting the planet should be the priority for every entity in the industry. With over 300 collaborators, every day we enjoy finding new sustainable solutions to guide brands and partners towards circularity. It's a commitment that requires a lot of determination and willingness to take risks. That's why we want anyone joining our journey to share our enthusiasm and creative spirit.
1963
The beginning of our journey. In the first decade of our company, the challenge was to produce anything to serve a post-war boom in population.
1970
Our textile district installs a water purification plant, an innovative idea for the time and a precursor to the major environmental issues we face today.
1980
Riding on the success of Italian and French designers, we begin producing fabrics that prioritize aesthetics and trends of the period.
1998
We launch a line of colored fabrics using natural products without water. A new alternative solution to the more polluting forms of textile dyeing.
2000
Fast fashion explodes, and price rises to the top of brand priorities. This pushes us towards different niches, still interested in quality materials and production mindful of environmental and social sustainability.
2009
We decided to embark on the Ecomill project for sustainable development. Among the objectives of the project, we aim to prioritize the local production of Italian wool, encourage the recycling of rags from around the world, use safe chemicals, manage wastewater disposal, and reduce CO2 emissions.
2016
There is growing sensitivity towards environmental sustainability issues. Recent phenomena compel the world to rethink ethical, social, and economic living. In this context, we remain true to our fundamental principles of seriousness, quality care, and attention to sustainability.
